Gary or Anyone, When it says shareholders of record, that usually means known to the company. If our shares are held in "street" how will the company know about them?

In the past it has been my experience that I have not received news and other things directly from the company simply because they did not know I owned any stock. It would appear that the only way they become aware of ownership is by the shareholder taking possession of the certificates.

Can someone with DEFINITE knowledge comment on this?
