Tim With reference to one of your books. The others I have not read. I have Dr Elders book and was really impressed with it. However after reading a few reviews about it on Amazons web site amazon.com, I am now questioning the validity of his actual trading methods. I have, since reading some of the various books about day trading, decided that my first criterion to the validity of any book, is that it's author must be in fact, a recognized success in his field of endeavor. The reviews about Jeff Coopers "Hit and Run Day Trading" were excellent. I have contacted by email some of the reviewers who posted their addresses with their reviews. To date, all of my returned messages have been very positive. One from a proffesional day trader living in the Bay area has been very helpful. He claims his trading has improved immensley, by integrating his own methods with Coopers. He claims so many books are rich in theory, but rather hard to implement in the real world. I gathered that his reference to the real world is letting the market tell him what is real ( also talked about in an earlier post on this thread by Jawd) The reason I refer to him as a professional trader, is that he said he trades at home using capital provided by a large securities firm in the area. Another couple of books that I have read that are very informative are small booklets put out by Don Worden of Worden Bros. Their website is www.tc2000.com. Although they do not list the books on the website, a toll free number is provided to their offices. The 2 books that were especially enligtening were "A Traders Manifesto" by Don Worden and "Street Smart Chart Reading" by the same author. Very instructive and very easy to implement. He mentions that one's trading success can be very much improved by pulling the trigger early on orders. He goes on to say that if you wait for a certainty on a trading decision that, it is too late. The market he says does not pay one for certainty, simply because certainty is already in the past. I have had the booklets for about 2 years. I re-read them about every 6 months to keep my head screwed on straight. At the time I purchased them they were about $19.95. As with all things they are probably higher priced now. Bgalliano. |
