I just can't vibe with that idealogy. The consumer has just as much choice now as they ever had. NSCP is freely available. MSFT has simply made thier browser more accessible. This is business, it happens. NSCP made thier email and newsreader more accessible, when they has majority maket share. I applauded this, so it goes both ways. I understand the argument of the OEM channel being dominated by MSFT, but NSCP had the oppurtunity to do that as well, they chose not to (they could have offered the free bundle and marketing perks in the form of site exposure and browser links to the larger institutions jsut like MSFT did - instead they waited until MSFT did it and tried to play catch up). Now the the public is footing the bill for NSCP's mgmt mistake in judgement. Don't say they could not afford it. They gave the browser away in the beginning, they are doing it now (after the fact), and they did it indirectly over the Internet. The choice not to aggressively market free bundles is not MSFT's fault, not the tax payers. I hate to say it, but this is analogous to corporate welfare.
