I assume you are not recommending to sell a block of stock WITHOUT a limit are you? Maybe you should have set your limit a little higher?
Just remember, MM's are merely a reflection of the relative anxiety between buyers and sellers.. MM's are NOT in charge of moving markets up or down, YOUR orders do that! If MM's were prohibited from selling short, stock prices would be positive or absolutely 0 depending on the outlook. Volatility would be out of sight and no-one in their right mind would own small caps at any price! Don't believe for a minute that any MM sits up at night and plans to "run" a market one way or the other the next morning WITHOUT orders from retail customers like you and me. MM's are not nearly as cunning and calculating as lots of "investors" like to portray them as in these chat rooms. They just don't want to lose $ like any one else IMHO.
