"Schwartz will not stoop to respond to these absurd allegations, simply because to do so would lend them a dignity they do not deserve. Thus, while there is clearly a fair amount of short term pain for shareholders, I'll throw a buck in the pool that says that he will stand by his remarks at the shareholder meeting with nothing further added."
I beg to differ, JMD. They'll respond, if not today, than within the next two days, even if the thrust is "We've already been over this stuff before, so let me try again." Rule number one of crisis communications (of which this is an example, albeit a small one) is: when there is a demand for information, the vacuum will be filled by someone, if not you, then by your enemies. Failure to respond to these allegations would make me question their public relations savvy.
I'll see your buck and raise you a buck. After all, when the smoke clears, hopefully we can all toast some Dom at a subsequent Loral shareholders meeting. Actually, now that I re-read your post, I'm not sure we're not in more agreement than it looks on the surface. |
