I'd give the real credit to the FBI, IRS, U.S. Customs and Immigration, the U.S. State Department and any and all other individuals and agencies that are investigating the serious matters behind YBM Magnex. That it was a bizarre stock promotion should have been (and maybe it was) obvious to various securities industry professionals in Canada - e.g. those Bay Street analysts pitching the deal to institutional and retail investors.

Analysts, fund managers and advisors et al who have touted YBM Magnex have done a remarkable job of ignoring the company's origins. Are these industry players inadequate or negligent in their due diligence procedures? or do they just not tell the public what they find if it doesn't suit their cheerleading roles?

I've compiled a partial list of those Canadian market gurus who pitched YBM Magnex. What due diligence did they carry out before recommending the company's shares to their clients and/or publc investors?

a) brokerage analysts

Rob McConnachie - Scotia Capital Markets (formerly analyst at Canaccord Capital)

Peter Sklar - Nesbitt Burns (Toronto)

Mike Middleton - Griffiths McBurney Partners (Toronto)

Kaan Oran - First Marathon (Toronto) now with Connor, Clark and Lunn Investment Management (Vancouver)

b) fund players

Jim Goar - O'Donnell Investment Management (Toronto)

Greg Bay - M.K. Wong & Associates (Vancouver)

Gerry Brockelsby - Marquest Invesment Counsel (Toronto)

Steve Misener - BPI mutual funds (Toronto)

Wayne Deans - Deans Knight Capital Management (Vancouver)

Anyone know of any names to be added to this list?

(BTW, I first posted this message/list to SI's YBM Magnex thread - but it seems to fit here and on some other threads as well.)
