I understand the argument of the
OEM channel being dominated by MSFT, but NSCP had the oppurtunity to do that as well, they
chose not to (they could have offered the free bundle and marketing perks in the form of site
exposure and browser links to the larger institutions jsut like MSFT did - instead they waited
until MSFT did it and tried to play catch up).


It's not clear if NSCP could have done this. After all, MSFT dominated the OEM channel before NSCP was born, and any attempt by NSCP to bundle the browser probably would have been rejected by the OEMS, who would have been under pressure by MSFT to wait and bundle MSFT's browser when it becomes available.
