The clause about the militia is about arming a nation's people to fight off attacks on its sovereignty. agreed. The kicker is that those attacks can come from without or within. Granted, the history of the USA has been without serious revolutionary content since, say, the secession and its attendant war. Heck. Why are other countries so out of line with us? :-) I'd wager because when you're a lawmaker it's easier to declaw the populace. Everybody's happy, at least everybody writing the laws. Why do you think a large percentage of police associations favor gun control? Pure self-interest. The cops get to keep all their heavy metal. Mermaid in distress? Oh come on. You have never shied away from expressing an opinion. And I'm sure you'll agree that the Fish and his reef dwellers will destructively test the opinions, but will ever so gently leave the dignity of the opiner intact. So never mind the false modesty, and dive on in!
