Found this while doing some searching - a XYBR partner...

Maybe y'all know this already, if so sorry.

Multicosm Ltd, a pioneer developer of open hypertext applications for Enhanced Performance Systems and Knowledge Management applications, has today enhanced its award-winning Microcosm Plus product with full speech navigation functions.

Bill Nisen, recently appointed CEO of Multicosm Ltd, said: "I'm proud to be launching the first speech-enabled open hypertext product in the world. We've been working over the past two years with our partner Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) to tailor our successful Microcosm Plus product to the unique environment of a voice-driven wearable computer. With no existing models to work from, we've invented a variety of techniques that enable mobile workers to select relevant information by name and context. Over the past year, flexible and affordable speech systems have become available for the first time, and we can now exploit these to provide high-performance access to information using our unique "just in time" LinkBaseT technology."

Multicosm Ltd is selling this new system under the name "Microcosm Plus with Voice", while Xybernaut Corporation is selling a specially-developed OEM version under the name LinkAssistT in conjunction with its Mobile Assistant PentiumT wearable computer. Applications include maintenance of complex high-value equipment such as aircraft and helicopters, process machinery in the oil and chemical industries, and semiconductor manufacturing lines. Speech navigation also opens up easier access to educational materials for those unable by reason of disability to use conventional keyboards.

Microcosm Plus with Voice offers a choice of state-of-the-art speech technology from either IBM or Texas Instruments, and runs on Windows 95r or Windows NTr in configurations of at least 32MB of RAM on a 100Mhz Pentium processor with appropriate sound hardware. The authoring version retails at œ995 with supplementary run-time licenses available at œ195; both are now available.

Edward G Newman, Xybernaut President and Chief Executive Officer, stated: "With over 30 years experience as a software developer and solutions provider, I know how challenging it is to develop a product that can link data in its native format so as to maintain information integrity, and so we were delighted to work with a technology leader such as Multicosm Ltd on this project. linkAssistT is a most impressive tool that provides the end-user with speech navigation of richly-associated multimedia data put together in a simple 1, 2, 3 step procedure. It builds on well-tried technology that is already in use across the globe by companies such as Shell Oil and Pirelli."

A key innovation introduced by Microcosm Plus with Voice is the ability to call up data by name in its original form. This eliminates time-consuming data conversion and can be accomplished without any programming or scripting being needed - in fact, it's so easy to do that any end-user can enrich their applications by introducing new associations of data as the need arises. Paired with suitable mobile computers , Microcosm Plus with Voice provides the fastest and most flexible information access system in the world.

A typical use of the system is to combine part number details held in a spreadsheet, technical specification data originating from a word processor, and video clips illustrating maintenance operations so that an engineer can quickly locate replacement parts for a failing system and see "on the spot" exactly how to complete the repair. At each step, the appropriate data can be called up by name making use of the advanced hypertext technology build into Microcosm Plus with Voice.
