I do not think anybody is saying that having a 80% marketshare or a monopoly is bad,but what a lot of people are complaining about is
how this monopoly is used to crush competitors and how this monopoly is used to unfairly and uncompetitively force entry and domonance in other areas of the tech world.
Yes Netscape at one time had over 80 % of the browser market, because
they were first and the best there was.
But any company was able to achieve this.
MSFT felt threatend and started to use its OS Monopoly to bundle their
browser and hence trying to eliminate NSCP.
What is next? MSFT uses its Monopoly to bundle Speech recignition software with the OS and practically kill all little companies who work on this, and on and on.
I am for competition and I think the best should win!
But is MSFT the best, is Windows the best or does a very big part of
the acceptance of Windows lie in the fact that everybody practictly is forced to buy windows systems?
