Acidizing a well - off the top, I'm cash flow focussed and not a technical expert but here's my understanding of the acidizing thing (we're talking oilfield services). After a reservoir of oil/gas is proved the challenge becomes how to recover the stuff from out of the ground and into shareholder's equity. Any technique used to increase the production rate is known as production stimulation. There are various methods to stimulate production and one is ACIDIZING. I believe various volumes of hydrochloric acid are used in limestone and dolomite or other acid-soluble formations to dissolve existing flow channel pathways. In effect the pathways (my word) or "flow channel wells" are increased which will then allow a greater oil flow into the tubing perforations. Once the liquid is inside the tubing it's just a matter of pumping the stuff out of the ground. High pressure equipment, pumps and wellheads are all necessary to take full advantage of acidizing........... almost sounds like oilfield services. If any technical experts can confirm/add/whatever, fire away.
