Solpower Announces Appointments to the Board

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 1998--Solpower Corp. Monday announced the appointment of Fraser M. Moffat III and James H. Hirst to the board of directors.

Moffat will act as chairman of the board, Hirst as president and chief executive officer and Leif Schipper will remain as a director and assume the role of secretary treasurer. The remainder of the board is unchanged.

Moffat is dedicated to fulfilling the company's mission statement of commercializing only environmentally friendly products and technologies. He was born in New York City and educated at Phillips Exeter Academy and Williams College. Moffat served in the U.S. Navy attaining rank of lieutenant commander.

He joined Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp. becoming a sales manager for Latin America and then Europe. He was managing director of Mohasco Industries in Germany before entering the securities industry with Merrill Lynch in 1971. Later he moved to Lehman Brothers in Hamburg, Germany, handling institutional accounts in major European banking centers. Moffat presently resides in Montrose, Pa.

The company's product launch of Soltron(TM) in its corporate territory is in full swing with the appointment of area sales managers in Los Angeles and Phoenix and an inside sales coordinator in Phoenix.

The Great Lakes licensee has appointed a district manager in Cincinnati, and an area sales manager in Chicago to initiate sales in that territory. A suitable Soltron(TM) production facility for the region is currently under review. The company has exhibited Soltron(TM) at several major North American trucking shows including the recently completed International Trucking Show in Las Vegas.

The company's Soltron(TM) production facility in Phoenix is nearing completion and together with a Soltron(TM) production facility in the Great Lakes Territory the company will be half way to meeting its target of four Soltron(TM) manufacturing facilities and generating $22.1 million in Soltron(TM) sales and royalties during the current fiscal year.
