dba Telecom Announces New Sales In Asia Pacific Markets
North Vancouver, BC, May 14, 1998--dba Telecom Corporation announced today
that the Company's Australian subsidiary, dba Telecommunications Products
PTY Ltd., has received a follow on order for SmarTalk NRG telephones from
Telecom New Zealand, through dba's New Zealand distributor, Comworth
Systems. dba has also received its first order for the new SmarTalk NRG from
Fiji Telecom, a long time dba customer in the Pacific Islands. Mr. Bensted
was recently in Australia to present a paper at the Australian
Telecommunications Users Group Conference in Melbourne.
Sheron Gardner, Managing Director of dba's Australian subsidiary, reports
that sales of the SmarTalk NRG into dba's Australian dealer network are
going well. According to Mr. Gardner, "dba established a very good dealer
base with the original SmarTalk product and the dealers have accepted the
new NRG product with great enthusiasm. We expect sales to increase steadily
over the following months as we introduce a series of promotional programs
to our dealers and volumes continue to build with Telecom New Zealand and
Fiji Telecom."
David Bensted went on to add, "The Asia Pacific market is developing very
well for dba. With relationships established in Singapore, Hong Kong, Fiji
and New Zealand with major service providers, we are in discussions with
their counterparts in other countries and expect to be in a position to make
some announcements in the near future."
