Lee,

The Disk Drive business has been up and down.
Profitable and disasterous.
During all of those times, Access times, physical size, and total storage capacity, and the cost/MB of storage have all improved.

Just becasue INTC comes out with a faster processor does not gurantee that the industry nor the profitabality of the industry will grow.

The hardware industry on all levels has reached a level of over capacity. This over capacity has lead to earnings shortfalls at most hardware companies.
Industry overcapacity exists on all levels. DRAMS, HDDs, CPUs, finnished PC's, Video chips and cards, modems.
All of these parts were expensive and in low supply relative to demand at one point.
That is no longer the case, and that is a change in the industry.

Technology will progress, but this progress does not in and of itself no longer guranties earnings growth or for that matter earnings at all.
This is a change in the overall landscape of technology from an investors stand point.

Jim
