German Health Chief Says System Won't Cover Viagra Expenses

Bloomberg News

Berlin, May 19 (Bloomberg) -- Germany's Health Minister
Horst Seehofer said the country's social medical system won't
reimburse most men who use Viagra, the new drug supposed to
counter impotence, the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported.
Seehofer said the country's health insurance system, which covers
most Germans, will reimburse for Viagra cost only in extreme
cases such as diabetes or paraplegia. About 8 million men in
German are affected by impotence, the paper said.

Pfizer Inc.'s Viagra, which is to be introduced in Germany
this fall, became one of the best-selling drugs in the U.S. when
it was introduced two months ago.
