I imagine the DM connection would be healthy as it appears to have a promising future in the currency markets.

I had never thought about the irrelevancy of the Irish currency with respect to Irish firms. I wonder if my perception is shared by a significant number of investors.

My personal view, at this time, is that acquiring positions in stocks (most any stocks) is a speculative proposition. My viewpoint is derived from my experience trading the financial futures and so my perspective is more broad-based than it would be if I were only looking at the fortunes of a single company or even sector.

However I have always had some interest in Irish stocks and I even followed a fund that premiered on the AMEX, I believe, a few years ago. I imagine I have this interest because my parents are from Ireland.

In any event, I intend to monitor the thread for discussions of equities, as at some point in the near future I am certain my gut fears with respect to acquiring new positions shall abate.
