I believe this is the classic "sucker's rally" based on a perception that additional uPs are needed to supply Intel's production shortage.

On the invention of the uP this observation was made which perhaps contains a marketing niche for AMD when the rally vaporizes, there are plenty of elevators:

"We thought it would be useful in a lot of control applications like elevators. Frankly we didn't see the importance of putting a keyboard and display terminal with it," Moore said.

I am glad I did not buy at $14 because that would only be setting me up for a big disappointment when this rally runs out of fuel. I have saved my portfolio and my peace of mind by using caution.
