I don't want to go back to CPM. Actually I never used it. And I am not bashing MSFT. I don't think they have done anything illegal. I also think it is ridiculous to ask MSFT to include other browsers. But no one can deny that MSFT uses it's position as the major OS provider to eliminate competition. Maybe this is bad, maybe this is good.

I worked for a small company that made email software. This company is now out of business. MSFT included email software on win 95. It was free. Our only source of income was from the sales of this software. But with a free version ot there that revenue began to dry up. Is that fair, I don't know. Life isn't always fair. And no I am not bitter about the experience. But is the consumer better off? Is there further innovation going on because that ocurred? I don't think so.

I really think the answer is that someone needs to create an OS that can compete with MSFT. If MSFT is doing anything illegal to hinder that ocurring then there may some day be a case against them, but for now the DOJ is going to get it's butt kicked.

Thanks,
bps
