You really are a clown. Microsoft can't even make their own formats compatible from release to release. You call that a standard?

As to the use of "standard", normally I think of it in a more technical sense (although I agree its a pretty loose term).

One of the key things about standards is that they get published are internally consistent and don't change at the whim of a particular manufacturer. By that definition Windows is not a standard and a protocol like IP or a 5 penny nail is.

As to windows being a standard in your sense; sure, Windows owns the desktop, its a monopoly and because of that according to you a standard.

At least we agree about the monopoly part.
