The world is run by about 50,000 mainframes from IBM and other mainframe manufacturer

That 50,000 number is way off... try:

15,000 IBM MVS mainframes
40,000 IBM DOS/VSE midrange
400,000 IBM AS/400 midrange
500,000 DEC VAX midrange

And we ignore Prime, Wang, Xerox, Cray, Control Data, Perkin Elmer, AT&T & another couple dozen box makers.

Sooooo... just at a first cut there are close to 1,000,000 boxes in a very narrow view of the market.
