Re: Ultratech Stepper to Acquire the Assets of Integrated Solutions

Arthur W. Zafiropoulo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, ''The acquisition of ISI's assets positions Ultratech to offer customers a broader range of lithography solutions, including our patented 1X and e-beam technologies, and now i-line and deep UV reduction steppers. ISI's lithography products are an outstanding addition to our portfolio, as they offer the combination of productivity and cost-effectiveness that is the cornerstone of Ultratech's corporate strategy.''

I cannot believe anyone would actually suggest either 1X or e-beam as an asset. . .

I translate the above as follows:
OK, we give up, e-beam is still too slow for production, and the market for "mix-and-match" i-line isn't all that hot. Let's try to plug this sinking ship with ISI's DUV product.

Too little, too late IMHO. I hope ISI's management asked for cash, because a stock offering might not look so great same time next year, particularly in a shakeout.
