Kodak AOL alliance. Implications to FOTO?

You've got pictures

"...Calling online delivery of Kodak-processed photographs, "one of the most exciting consumer services ever to be offered online," America Online <http://cbs.marketwatch.com/data/squote.htx?TICKER=aol&TABLES=EXTEND&SOURCE =htx/http2_mw> (AOL) president Bob Pittman said Tuesday his company has agreed to "an alliance" with Eastman Kodak <http://cbs.marketwatch.com/data/squote.htx?TICKER=ek&TABLES=EXTEND&SOURCE= htx/http2_mw> (EK) to offer such a service later this year. AOL and Kodak said they will make joint investments in advertising and marketing, product development, and ongoing support. The two companies will share revenues from the venture. AOL also has made a minority investment in Eastman Kodak's subsidiary PictureVision Inc. AOL's million members will be able to have their pictures delivered directly to their AOL e-mail box, by including their AOL screen name when dropping off a roll of film for processing at retailers nationwide and checking an e-pictures box on the form. There will be an additional fee. These retail locations will develop the film and scan and upload the pictures directly to AOL via Kodak PhotoNet online. Pittman called the Kodak service, "a prime example of the exclusive benefits that make AOL so valuable to our members..." source: &copy [19 May] 1998 Infobeat, Inc. Finance Internet Daily CBS.MW
