Hi, If you don't mind my asking, what brought you to the decision to short Zonagen?
I can give you some suggestions... If you really want to short it you might see if you can open an account and trasfer enough shares or cash there, at Brown & Co or Waterhouse. I can recommend both, highly. They are very reliable and accurate and their online systems are efficient and don't crash your machine. :-) You may laugh but a few of the new online brokers I've tried have online services that are either mostly non functional or crash my computer.Anyway, Brown & Co has a slight edge since they charge the same for voice orders as online orders and have cheaper margin rates.
Alternatively you can keep trying, but I don't know what will turn up. Last week I wanted to short a stock, or so I thought. My available buying power was at Waterhouse at that moment. One day there were no shares, the next day there were 300 and the third day there were 100,000 shares available there for shorting. As it turned out I didn't short it at all, but wasn't that weird? Yes!
Meanwhile I suggest you look through some of the threads on SI that might have to do with shorting. I have read none of them but I know Bill Wexler has one (called something like Profits of Doom) and I am sure there are others. One can lose unlimited amounts of money shorting a stock, that much I do know. Unlimited.
If I haven't scared you to death, good luck. :-)
