Its getting BIDS on the backbone, but not the retail side, of its internet business.

UUnet of Wcom has lots of backbone, but less retail. Good move by Bernard Ebbers, as usual.

They may or may not have to sell all the MCI backbone off. They are now taking the time to ensure that they can have fullsome bids without delaying their merger closing, should a sell off be necessary.
