<<CUBE inside>> E4 Announces CoolStream MPEG2/DVD Streaming Solution for WinNT, Win95/98 and Mac OS

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 1998--

E4's Cross-Platform Solution Allows Developers to Create

MPEG2/DVD Streaming Applications with E4's Hardware

for WinNT, Win95/98 and Mac OS

E4 (Elecede Technologies, Inc.), a leading developer of state-of-the-art DVD, video and graphics products for the PC and Macintosh markets, announced that it will be offering the CoolStream(TM) MPEG2/DVD Streaming solution. The CoolStream MPEG2/DVD Streaming card combined with the CoolStream software development kit (SDK), allows developers to easily incorporate broadcast quality video for network video applications on either Windows NT, Windows 95/98 or Mac OS platforms. It is the only such multi-platform solution available.

CoolStream is a perfect solution for MPEG2/DVD streaming video-on-demand (VOD) applications, such as informational kiosks, distance learning, training and broadcast video on terrestrial or satellite-based systems. CoolStream MPEG2/DVD Streaming playback card works on Windows 95/98, Windows NT and Mac OS 8.x. and will be available late June 1998. The cross-OS software development kit (SDK) is a companion product for CoolStream and will be available July 1998 to selected development partners. Interested parties should directly contact E4 for pricing.

"CoolStream supports file and stream playback of MPEG-1/2 data. Moreover, E4 provides the world's first cross-platform API for Windows95/98, Windows NT and Mac OS" said John Chan, director of product marketing for E4. "This opens up exiting opportunities for the development community to create video on demand applications without having to worry about which platform the product will be deployed on."

CoolStream utilizes the ZiVA DVD decoder from C-Cube, and Auravision's VxP524 Video Stream Processor to provide hardware processing for both video and audio playback without burdening the CPU. This leaves the CPU to work on other time-critical tasks while providing the highest quality video processing to client applications.

"CoolStream has engineered a solution which allows VARs, kiosk designers and multimedia contractors to quickly provide a solution with little to no concern for the host PC and OS," said Richard Doherty, Research Director of The Envisioneering Group in Seaford NY. "It is the only truly cross platform DVD delivery developer solution available today."

The CoolStream SDK includes components to develop applications rapidly on Borland C++ Builder and Delphi and includes DLLs to work with most 32-bit compilers such as Visual C++, Code Warrior, and C++ Builder.

CoolStream requires a PC/Mac with a Pentium 100 MHz or PowerPC 603, 120 MHz or higher and 16MB RAM, PCI 2.1 expansion slot, VGA graphics card/on-board graphics with NT 4.0, Windows 95/98 or Mac OS 8.x
