Enhanced Services Co.'s Subsidiary, Laptop Solutions, Inc. Announces Wireless Manufacturing Alliance With Panasonic Personal Computer Company
HOUSTON, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Enhanced Services Co. (Nasdaq: ESVS), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Laptop Solutions, Inc. ("Laptop"), today announced a strategic alliance with Panasonic Personal Computer Company related to the design, manufacture and integration of a new integrated wireless communications module for use with notebook computers. This announcement culminates a six-month cooperative development effort between the two companies to provide RAM and ARDIS wireless solutions to mobile professionals.
Manufactured by the Irvine, CA-based Solutions Engineering Division of Laptop Solutions, the new integrated modem/antenna system allows Panasonic to offer new and powerful wireless communications solutions for the CF-25 line of ruggedized notebook PCs.
According to Peggy Aizawa, vice president of the Solutions Engineering Division of Laptop, manufacturing and integration operations have already commenced and the first units are currently being delivered. The technology represents a radical departure from the more traditional PCMCIA cards and integrated modems in that it employs a wireless radio module that fits into the multimedia pocket of the CF-25.

Wireless Communications Details
Laptop integrated an antenna and internal cabling together with a floppy drive bay form-factored module that provides either RAM or ARDIS wireless radio capability for Panasonic CF-25 notebook PCs. The company is responsible for the assembly, integration and testing of the module, which is warm- swappable with either a CD-ROM or floppy drive module.
