FWIW, I do know that people in Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar are a hell of a lot more concerned about China than about India.

China is always mentioned as a real and present threat and I don't think I have ever heard India mentioned in that way. The friendship with the U.S. in Vietnam is most often mentioned as a hedge against China.

Then again, last I was in Vietnam and Thailand was 1992, and Myanmar not since 1982.
