Techie, if all the servers out there responded as fast as you did to my question, I'd have no complaints at all <g>

I tried PC Quote 10 minutes before the market close and still couldn't get it. Lost the whole day and I certainly agree it was a bad day to miss. Just tried it now and it came up - only 8 hours too late.

Glad to hear they are finally going to have backup net access. IMO, UUNET is the worst major backbone out there. 4 times out of 5 when I run into a net problem, tracert shows UUNET (alter.net) to be the cause. I wish PC Quote would have chosen MCI rather than PSI.

I trade through Datek and the last few days their servers have been responding erratically for me. I think it is again a net problem rather than their servers because I get the same experience late in the evening when I test them and there is no reason for them to have any appreciable traffic.

I've never had PCQuote freeze my machine but then I run NT. What OS do you run, Win 95? PC Quote attempts to reconnect itself when it finds it hasn't conversed with the server in some amount of time but it is not real good at this. You probably know this by now, but there is a minimized app called MSG_APP that you can look at for a runtime log. If you close PC Quote to start it over, be sure and kill MSG_APP before you restart.

I'm with you in hoping the network upgrades improve things. Thanks again for your response.
