Thanks Jim, I intend to read the full article. I've been poring over Dell 10-K and I simply can't figure out what the options actually cost the company. I really have two points:

1. From an accounting point of view, shouldn't we as shareholders know what these costs are?

2. If the idea behind granting options is get the employees and shareholders pulling in the same direction, shouldn't there be restrictions on the sale of the stock?

Your loan/forgiveness idea is interesting. I'll need to think about that.

BTW, I've looked at Dell's financials under a microscope (as best I can, given the fact that they are condensed) and this is another in a long line of superb quarters.
