some more DD on NUKE:

The Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Neutron Generator(IECNG).

The idea for this type of fusion device is over forty years old and was developed by Philo Farnsworth. His approach was to use strong electric fields to accelerate charged particles(ions) toward each other in beams focused at the centre of a sphere. Some of these fuse and throw off neutrons. Robert Hirsch took up the concept and refined it using deuterium(a proton plus a neutron and an electron), a
naturally occuring form of hydrogen(a proton and an electron). Dr.Hirsch used a high potential electric field set up between a spherical grid at the centre of a larger sphere and the wall of the large sphere. This field is strong enough that the deuterium
is stripped of it's electrons and the resulting ions are then accelerated toward the centre's negatively charged grid, some pass through the grid and, as they are coming from all directions to the centre, collide producing neutrons that stream out in all directions.

Dr. Hirsch left the device to the University of Illinois where Dr. Miley took up the work of refining it and making it more powerful. In particular a new grid was designed that alligns the beams more efficiently thus increasing the performance, also the device
concentrates a plasma of ions at the centre making it more efficient.
The IECNG produces clean neutrons, incidental x-ray and gamma ray radiation is below normally measurable levels. The device is portable and can be switched on and off unlike the presently used Californium, a radioactive heavy metal that has the potential to be released into the enviornment if mishandled or subjected to fire. Californium needs to be replaced every two years or so and among other marketing techniques Mr. John Sved, is trying to get users to try the

IECNG when the Californium needs replacing. There is a liability aspect to posessing any radioactive isotope which I believe is not the
case with the IECNG. IECNG is being introduced at a neutron activation analysis conference in Germany now and this will mark the
begining of sales.

What is this device good for? University experiments in fusion and neutron activation analysis, dental and medical x-rays, mineral quality analysis, highly accurate alloy analysis as the alloy is being produced, the detection of non-metallic land mines and the detection of explosives at high security areas such as airports to name a few.

Rhombic will have royalties from all world wide sales of the units and has the marketing rights in the US through a wholly owned subsidiary, Rockford Technology Associates.
