CNBC to have a spot on ATM security via biometrics during Power Lunch, which is on right now.

EDIT: Just saw piece. Report from Washington D.C. covering a Senate Banking (Finance?) Committee hearing regarding biometrics. Many technologies were displayed for the committee. CNBC showed a Verifone retail transaction machine with an integral fingerprint reader. The reader had SAGEM on it. A nice looking unit I might add.

Also showed an eye-scan unit on an ATM machine. No name there however. Mentioned an IN bank/credit union that is currently using an ATM with a fingerprint reader. No name again. Any ideas J. Saf?

Personal privacy issue addressed with proponents "arguing" this is blown out of proportion. "Congress being pushed to regulate this industry before it gets too far along." Individuals may have to be notified that biometric info is being taken of them and being used. Sort of like a disclaimer, it sounded like.

No mention of IDX or other specific names in report.
