*AV*--After a great deal of trepidation, my little brother called me today and asked for some investment advice. He said he had $30K he wanted to invest and forget about for a year with hopes that it would grow beyond a money market account interest rate. He wants to maximize a downpayment on a house sometime in early 2000 to coincide with discussions about starting a family. Talk about the pressure.
He didn't follow my lead in CREAF, DY, ASMLF, ASYT, CYMI and a few other choice "picks" over the past 3 years. Since every one of them performed, the pressure is now on for me. I told him to buy 1,000 shares of the following 3 stocks: CYMI, IDTI, and NPRO. I hope I am correct and it works out for him. With that said, I will state or re-iterate that IDTI and CYMI are my top tier investments for the future. He said he will watch these stocks and act accordingly.
That is not to say that stocks like ALYD, ASYT, CFMT, AMAT, NVLS, etal. are not good investments but rather that I am most comfortable that these are the most "conservative" of my investment choices that could provide optimal growth. Of course, I also told him that if any of the stocks are up 40% prior to the end of next year, he shopuld consider taking profits if another opportunity should exist with other stocks.
Just wanted to share a little info on what I have recommended to a family member with limited resources.
