Can anybody hazard a guess why TI has been going down the last few days?

The answer probably can be found in ADI's earnings report that DSP's have been somewhat weak as of late (not to mention the general gloom and doom statements about chips in general made by many sources). See the following:

"Our general-purpose DSP IC revenues grew 16% year over year in the second quarter," commented
Mr. Fishman, "but declined sequentially following a very strong first quarter. This is consistent with
results recently reported by other leading DSP IC suppliers. General-purpose DSP orders began
picking up in April, led by strong activity from leading remote access server (RAS) modem
manufacturers for our low-power DSP modem products. Our RAS customers include the largest RAS
equipment manufacturers in the U.S. and Europe.

******

"Given the uncertain near-term outlook for the semiconductor market, our best guidance for the third
quarter is for revenues to be flat to up a few percent compared to the just-finished quarter. This
scenario would likely produce third-quarter earnings per share relatively flat to the second quarter,
with some improvement during the fourth quarter."
