<<OT: Quiet Is Good...

Incidentally, in today's NYT there's a wonderful little
bit about some research that I believe was done at Cornell
University. The research found that one group of investors
armed with only ONE little (and not, in any way, predictive)
factoid about a stock were JUST AS AGGRESSIVE AND DEAD
CERTAIN of their trades as those armed with three more
relevant factoids.

The researchers (see this under DUHHHH) were somewhat
disturbed by their findings, hoping that investors might
be a little more cautious based on less information. (Heck,
anyone who's ever driven Houston freeways will appreciate
just how aggressive people can be based on NO INFORMATION)
Their little study then when on to discover (see under DOUBLE
DUHHHH) that once the one little factoid was shown to
be a poor predictor of future performance that the
relatively uninformed group grew disproportionately
disillusioned and disappointed... (see under LET'S BALE
THIS STOCK REALLY SUCKS, YA KNOW?)

Now, back to the cookies... I mean... nap...

Best Regards,
