MV, It is actually hitting mfg. jobs tremendously. Right now, services are still adding jobs, but those who make things are still downsizing. Soon, with nobody to buy the services, it all goes sour.

When folks lose their jobs, the first thing they do is sell any stock they have in that co. <G> Next, they get conservative with their investments out of necessity. Maybe the money stays in money market funds, but my bet is that long term CDs start growing assets again.

The trade deficit is grotesque. I find it most amazing that all the New Pair of Dimes analysts are ignoring it completely. It doesn't fit into their argument that the US economy is a monster on a rampage, so, they don't talk about it.
