There are a few things.

<<snip>>
"This year, Kmart will invest approximately $350 million to roll out 511 more Big Kmart
stores, bringing the total number of conversions at year-end to 1,181 stores -- more than 55
percent of the entire chain. For the first time in more than five years, at year-end 1998,
Kmart will have more stores open than it did at the beginning of the year.

Kmart will begin offering Internet shopping this summer so that customers can enjoy the
convenience of buying via their home computers. "We know there is opportunity in electronic
commerce if it is executed properly and with a true understanding of the types of products
shoppers are comfortable buying over the Internet," said Mr. Hall.

Analyst Action: Merrill Lynch upgraded KM from Accumulate to LT Buy

I didn't know about the upgrade. It was a complete surprise. It was Bloomberg TV that clued me into the internet shopping angle late Tuesday night.

I couldn't take advantage though. I was already booked. It's still not too late. Target is $27, but if K Mart executes well on the internet shopping, that alone may be good for the climb to $27.

Good hunting,
