Orvana Minerals: Don Mario Feasibility Study Update:
Results of Down Plunge Core Drilling

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(ORV-T) Orvana Minerals Corp. reports
assays for nine holes from the diamond drilling program being
carried out as part of the feasibility study of the Don Mario
gold- copper deposit in Eastern Bolivia. Drill holes DM 150 and
DM 154 test the down plunge of the Lower Mineralized Zone (LMZ);
DM 139 - 143 are from the Upper Mineralized Zone (UMZ); and DM 137
- 138 are from the LMZ "MiniPit".

Down Plunge Extension - Drill holes DM 150 and DM 106 (80 metres
apart in elevation) have very similar intercepts, suggesting good
down-plunge continuity of the LMZ. Approximately 30 metres of
Lower Mineralized Unit (LMU) host rock were intercepted in DM 150,
from 330 to 360 metres, with 5.4 metres (2.9 metres true
thickness) averaging 16.8 g/t Au intersected within the lower
portion of the LMU. Hole DM 150 is on Section 10190 N,
approximately half way between holes DM 63 and DM 106 which are
150 metres apart and on the same section. Holes DM 63 and DM 106
(reported on December 12, 1996 News Release ) intersected 1.0
metre (0.7 metre true thickness) averaging 85.7 g/t Au and 4.5
metres (3.1 metre true thickness) averaging 16.4 g/t Au,
respectively.

Drill hole DM 154 tests approximately 70 metres down-plunge from
DM 150. DM 154 contains 1.2 metres (0.8 metre true thickness) at
10.3 g/t Au. The lower zone correlates with mineralization in DM
63. While the grade is lower in DM 154, the thickness of the zone
is similar, demonstrating the persistence of the favourable
stratigraphy down plunge. A follow-up drill hole is planned to
intersect the LMZ 75 metres above DM 154 to allow this portion of
the mineralization to be included in the mining reserve.

Upper Mineralized Zone - Drill results for the UMZ include holes
DM 139 to DM 143. These results are also encouraging. Hole DM
141 includes 12.5 metres averaging 6.4 g/t Au, 2.3 percent Cu and
146 g/t Ag: DM 142 reports 84.75 metres averaging 1.5 g/t Au, 1.4
percent Cu, and 88.5 g/t Ag; DM 143 intersects 51.55 metres
averaging 0.4 g/t Au, 1.6 percent Cu and 54 g/t Ag. A more
complete assessment of the resource model, mining plan and
additional metallurgical testing are required in order to enable
the inclusion of the mineralization in the UMZ in the mining
reserve.

Status of Feasibility Study Drill Program - Feasibility core
drilling is nearly complete. The final holes will be finished
following a change of the drill rigs and the addition of a drill
hole stabilizer to help control hole deviation of the deep drill
holes. The total metres drilled to date for the feasibility have
been greater than projected in order to fully delimit shallow
mineralization as well as to follow down plunge, ore-grade
mineralization. A summary of the 1998 Feasibility Study core
drilling follows:

Assay results for 30 of the 51 drill holes have been reported.
Assays for drillholes DM 116 - 126 were reported on April 16,
1998, and assays for holes DM 127 - 136 were reported on May 4,
1998.

Don Mario Area Exploration - Exploration programs to be completed
within the Second Quarter of 1998 include: trenching Don Mario
North, trenching the southern extension of Don Mario Hill; and
trenching of the Las Tojas and Zona B targets. The extension of
ore grade values will be tested with trenches 25 metres apart, and
mineralized zones will be extended with exploration trenches 50 or
100 metres apart, as conditions warrant.
