Just a few thoughts to share...

I have been reading with great interest the last several posts. So many supportive ideas and feelings have been expressed!

I must say, the commute this evening was full of suspense. The last post I read before leaving from work was the one in which Mr. D said that he had sold his stock and was going to tell us why after he had finished his Bud. For the first several minutes, I was on pins and needles for I feared that Mr. D might intend to sell all his holdings and what that might mean to the stock price and the future of this thread. But, as I continued to inch along the freeway, I began to see some things in a slightly different perspective.

We have all entered the stock market with a goal in mind. That goal, clear or as fuzzy as it may be, probably revolves around bettering our financial condition. We are responsible only to ourselves, our families and our God for the decisions that we make to that end. Likewise, when we made the decision to buy DGIV, we are still only responsible to that same group. In and of itself, we are not any better or worse a person for having decided to purchase or sell DGIV. Those decisions cannot be made for the individual by the people on this thread. Those decisions must be made by the individual while considering their own situation and peace of mind. For us to try and deny that right is both selfish and mean-spirited. Sometimes, we lose just a bit of our perspective in our enthusiasm.

So, what place should this thread hold? Some come here for fun and laughter, some come for the companionship and some come for the advice, learning and support. This thread provides all of the above and I believe that is its rightful place. I have had laughs and met people that I respect highly though never met face to face. But, most of all, I have learned and I have been supported. It is certainly tough to "hang in there" when all the MM games are being played and we see the value of our investment diminishing. But, what this thread does so well is to refocus one's eyes to the long term goal in a supportive way. We are reminded of the research and the original factors that caused us to decide to purchase DGIV. There are a great variety of styles through which we are reached: from Byron's energetic and enthusiastic leadership, Macker's often mysterious and thought provoking posts, Rocketman's wit and good sense to Mr. D's sharing of his business acuity and Scarlet's sass and good cheer.

In return, the only responsibility that the individual has back to this thread is that they are honest; that they speak their minds and do not mislead. They are not responsible to us for their financial decisions.

Yes, when all is said and done, we have created a very special community. One that has many wonderful things to offer. We continue to support ourselves and others with our posts and that is very, very positive. We do this because we feel it is right. That the decision to hold DGIV long is the right decision. But, when someone has made the decision to leave the fold, as it were, we must trust that they have made their decision because they felt it was the right thing for them to do. We should say goodbye with no animosity in our hearts and only a wish for their good fortune. Afterall, they are only responsible to themselves, their family and their God for the decisions they make.
