Greetings Ann, First, thank you for your response and sorry for the delay in responding to same. What I am saying Ann, is that all mankind is born with a nature which is in rebellion to Almighy God. The Bible calls this quality inherent in all " sin ". One of the best words I have found to describe this nature is " selfishness ". If we are truly honest with ourselves, we will have to admit that we all portray to different degrees this character flaw. Whether one is totally overtaken by this " selfishness" or just occasionally, bottom line is, " ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD". That includes you and me Ann. I have acknowledged my sin, and by the grace of God have received " Eternal life " through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We have become partakers of the " tree of knowledge of good and evil" genetically from our original parents Adam and Eve. We have many good intentions of doing " good" but most times we lean toward doing " evil", or " looking out for number ONE ". ( Selfishness). Most everday people have formed in thier minds some " standard " of moral behaviour to live by. The standard set by Almighty God for mankind is His Son, Jesus Christ. You are quite correct in your observations that the new-born baby does not exhibit anything evil, but rest assured Ann, this " selfishness " will raise its ugly head before much time has elapsed in this childs life .We do not have to teach a child how to do bad things, that comes naturally, We spend most of our time trying to teach them what is right according to the standard one lives by. Ann , Please carefully consider my attempt to explain this fallen nature we all have and in the quietness of your heart and mind, consider if it could be possible that you to see this flaw with-in yourself. Should you agree that you do Ann, God, the Holy Spirit is helping you to see your sin and your desperate need to receive Gods Salvation, that is " new birth " from the Lord Jesus Christ. May the grace of the Eternal Father through the Lord Jesus Christ cause you to begin to see your true condition and repent and believe the " Good News ". Robert |
