IMMUCOR ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF EUROPEAN OPERATIONS
NORCROSS, GA - May 20, 1998 - Immucor, Inc. (The Nasdaq Stock Market: BLUD), maker of blood bank reagents and related products, announced today that Dr. Gioacchino De Chirico has been promoted to Director of European Operations. Dr. De Chirico joined Immucor February 1, 1994 as President of Immucor's Italian Subsidiary. He was elected to Immucor Inc.'s Board of Directors in December, 1994.
Commenting on Dr. De Chirico's new responsibilities, Edward L. Gallup, President and CEO stated, "Dr. De Chirico is an outstanding strategist and has provided tremendous leadership to our Italian operations and Immucor Inc. over the past four years. During his tenure as President of Immucor Italia, the company has dramatically improved its revenue and earnings while significantly growing market share. Dr. De Chirico will guide our affiliates and distributors as we expand our automated strategies for the European market."
Founded in 1982, Immucor manufactures and sells a complete line of reagents and systems used primarily by hospitals, donor centers and large clinical laboratories in a number of tests performed to detect and identify certain properties of the cell and serum components of blood prior to transfusion.
