I had to look it up myself... Peripheral Component Interconnect

This is a slot in your computer. Typically video cards, network cards and SCSI cards are placed in these slots.

The older slots are ISA slots ( Industry Standard Architecture ) These slots typically hold modems and sound cards.

Most components are available in either format but they are not readily interchangeable so you need to determine what you have before you make a purchase.

Most new motherboards have both PCI slots and ISA slots. The ISA slots are being phased out but will most likely be in a couple more generations of mainboards.
