>>read up on backups of the registry, <<

Spots, I do not know how I did it but I blew away my registry ( I think). I think it was my dual mice ( Win95). No good reason to believe that except I was clicking on the modem when she went kapoot. I lost the entire screen, had to power down. When I turned her on I got a message ...not enough memory to load registry or your registry is corrupt. The next screen asked me if I wanted to load an older registry but indicated that it might not contain everything I need. Well why not? The mouse would move over the Restore button but it would not click! The R did not work on the keyboard and the ENTER did not work. I could not get by the screen.

I put a system disc in the floppy drive but when I tried to access the C drive it was non existent.

I went into the BIOS and the harddrive was there but the analysis indicated that I had no command.com, config.sys or?.

I do not know what the moral is ( I do not dare activate my second mouse ). If I had a backed up registry I do not know if I could have installed it.

I ended up reformatting the harddrive with a new install of all software.
