Clarence,
Up to now, I've been running CyberTrader on a 200 Mhz Pentium with 96MB memory, no problems in that respect. I think Cyber Corp recommends 200 Mz as a minimum.
As for the new computer, I recently ordered a 400 Mhz Pentium II with 128 MB memory from Dell. Expect to get it Saturday, so I'll be busy setting it up this weekend. I plan to keep Cyber Trader on my 200 Mhz PC and transfer everything else I have to the new one, which will replace my older 166 Mhz backup computer. On this new one, I'll run ATFI (backup quotes), web browsers for news and internet chat rooms, AIQ and TeleScan tech analysis software, Quicken, and other stuff like that. I like to keep a lot of stuff running simultaneously, especially during market hours.
By the way, I just read in today's local newspaper that Bell South will offer ASDL internet service here in New Orleans starting in August for a price of $49.95 per month for unlimited service plus $299.95 for equipment and installation. It claims internet access will be 30-100 times faster than traditional connections. I use 128k ISDN for my CyberTrader PC right now, but only have 56k dial-up for my second PC, so I'm very excited about the possibility of getting ASDL later this summer to replace my 56k dial-up.
Can anyone comment on experience with ASDL? Just how fast and how good is it? From what I can tell, it should be able to make ISDN virtually obsolete. Am I missing something? Would ASDL even be better for connecting to Cyber Corp than the ISDN I'm using now?
So, Clarence, I can't speak for Cyber Corp, but I think you could easily run CyberTrader on any PC running 200 Mhz Pentium or better. So, anything you could buy now would probably be quite adequate.
Good luck,
Bill |
