In a somewhat bizarre twist, Chairman Smith indicated at an investor presentation Wednesday that FY1999 EPS would be $4.10. Consensus is $4.34. Morgan Stanley, who hosted the meeting, said his $4.20 is close enough. Merrill is at $4.80 and is anticipating benefits from the Caliber deal. Maybe they know something the company doesn't or these estimates will fall.
