With regards to your comments on flat rate pricing - actually, it's already here. Bell Atlantic Mobile launched an "all-you-can-eat" package on their CDPD network for about $55/month. The catch is that the modem is expensive at $700 or something like that and CDPD rates a not tremendously fast. But coverage is MUCH wider than what MCOM offers and will be in a position to offer for years.

Then comes what AT&T has - on the CDPD front I hear they are offering, or going to offer, a similar package - but the coverage is supposedly much more awesome - something along the lines of anywhere in the country where there's CDPD coverage. Beats me as to how they can offer this deal - will be mind blowing if they actually do this. Coverage-wise, it will take MCOM well into the next century to catch up. I think it's all in line with the "One Rate" pricing AT&T is offering on their cellular phones - I believe it's service available anywhere in the 50 states there's cellular/wireless coverage, you pay no Long Distance and No Roaming - their best package works out to something like 11 cents a min!!! I'm seriously thinking of dumping my home phone - which I hardly use anyways!
