Robert,
In my opinion, the following excerpt from one of the books Sam has furnished for consideration in this forum, speaks illuminating wisdom. It is necessary, for individuals to force themselves to think slightly "outside the box" (the box being the dogma brainwashing they experienced as children).
"The Roman State, 300 years later, "canonized" these writings into what is today known as the "Holy Bible," established rituals and used words and "Teachings" they put into the fictional Jesus' mouth to change the shape of Western society to their totalitarian design. Images and words to control the minds of those with "faith" by psychological techniques such as: bait & switch, condemnation of 'worldly' life, intellectual & emotional murder & suicide, VERBALLY ASSAULTING the reasonable & rational mind of individuals, teaching self deception and SELF HATRED and FEAR, causing dividedness of mind, conscious from unconscious/subconscious, creating gaps between natural existence & 'faith-based' existence, FEAR MONGERING and intricately contrived nondisprovability of fearsome 'holy writ,' MENTAL & EMOTIONAL harassment & abuse."
My remarks: who has the most to gain to further these original Roman teachings in order to control their vast, diversified domain? My answer: those who consider themselves evangelists. Those who have decided that the only way they could emotionally cope with these teachings were to become teachers themselves.
