QUANTUM LEAP COMMUNICATIONS CREATES TOP RATED FTD BANNER AND HELPS GENERATE RECORD MOTHER'S DAY SALES

CHICAGO, May 21, 1998--Quantum Leap Communications, a new media and technology company, created the banner seen most on the Internet for the week of May 3 for its client, FTD, according to NetRatings, Inc., a Web audience research firm that tracks Web user activity, online behavior, and audience response to advertising banners.
FTD, the nation's oldest and most successful network of florists, had more than 25 million impressions for its four ad banner campaign that ran between April 26 and May 9, according to NetRatings. Their 'Flowers for Mom' ad banner ranked 10th for the week of April 26 and then moved in the number 1 slot during the week of May 3.
FTD more than doubled its Internet sales of flowers, compared to the same sales period last year, during the week before Mother's Day, one of the largest flower holidays of the year. The Mother's Day success for FTD arrives on the heels of their equally record-breaking Valentine's Day sales a few months ago.
"Our goal is to ensure ftd.com is the easiest and quickest way to buy flowers online," said Matthew Mulderink, head of Internet Marketing for FTD. "More than 80
percent of our online purchasers are first-time e-commerce participants and I think that speaks to the consumer's trust in the FTD brand."
Mulderink noted that FTD has taken an aggressive position with regard to Internet sales, securing several high-level e-commerce partnerships, such as Netscape's NetCenter, CompuServe and Yahoo!
Mulderink attributes part of FTD's success online to the cutting edge html banners created by Quantum Leap. Quantum Leap designed, programmed and placed several creative executions for the Mother's Day promotion.
"FTD is truly at the forefront of event-related e-commerce and we are pleased to be part of this successful effort," said Debra Bean, Managing Director of Quantum Leap Communications. "Our mission is to generate results for our clients using the Internet as a marketing tool. This campaign for FTD has far exceeded our expectations."
Quantum Leap Communications, a subsidiary of The Leap Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: LEAP) is dedicated to inventing outstanding experiences for consumers on the Internet. Quantum Leap combines award-winning design, years of technical experience and a heritage of marketing discipline to provide creative solutions for clients, which include MSNBC, American Airlines, FTD and R.
