Stephen - Re: "How was the Annual Intel Meeting?..Any surprises?"

The meeting was fine - very professionally done.

Intel's executives seemed a bit reserved but confident. They acknowledged the price/demand dilemma problems but emphasized their approach at market segmentation - establishing different designs and configurations and price targets
for the 8 or 10 "segements" that they see.

As noted in in other sources, Intel emphasized that R & D - investment in new processes and products - is what has always succeeded in re-vitalizing the company after periods of slowdown and that they expect this to continue to work.

The Q & A session was peppered with the usual - "Intel PCs are too powerful for word processing and recipe filing...yada, yada,yada..."

Nobody asked how Intel could earn Billions of dollars by selling $15 CPUs, however.
