1st a win now a loss. May 21, 1998 Hitachi To Use C-Cube Ziva Decoder For DVD Player Dow Jones Newswires MILPITAS, Calif. -- Hitachi Ltd. (HIT) will use C-Cube Microsystems Inc.'s (CUBE) Ziva single-chip DVD decoder for theater-quality digital video playback on the Hitachi DV-K2 DVD player. In a press release Thursday, C-Cube said the Ziva decoders include MPEG-2 video decoding, Dolby Digital decoding, CSS authentication and descrambling, sub-picture decoding, on-screen display, linear PCM audio decoding, demultiplexing and audio-video synchronization into a single chip. C-Cube develops digital video silicon services.
