When cattle eat a plant called the tansy ragwort _ common in the Pacific Northwest _ it destroys their livers. But sheep contain bacteria that protect them when they eat the same plant. Researchers at Oregon State University are reporting they have used the sheep bacteria to neutralize the plant's harmful effects in cattle. * end of story *
